2012 NYC Veterans Day Parade - Ed Koch Interview
Former NYC Mayor Ed Koch (WWII Veteran) with former NYC Mayor David Dinkins (USMC) and Rep. Charlie Rangel (Korean War Veteran).
Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that December 12 is the anniversary of the birth of WWII U.S. Army veteran, American lawyer, politician, political commentator, movie critic and reality television arbitrator Edward Irving Koch who served in the United States House of Representatives from 1969 to 1977 and three terms as mayor of New York City from 1978 to 1989.
He was a principled man who was not beholden to any political party who described himself as a "liberal with sanity".
He was the first mayor in the nation to honor Vietnam War veterans with a parade.
Res in peace Ed Koch!

Never knew Ed Koch was in the military, Maj Marty Hogan. This from Together We Served-Army: "He was drafted into the United States Army in 1943 where he served as an infantryman with the 104th Infantry Division, landing in Cherbourg, France in September 1944. He earned two Battle Stars as a Combat Infantryman. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in 1946." Here are his awards and decorations as compiled by TWS:

SFC William Farrell
LTC Stephen C. I guess he should have a Bronze Star too. I thought if you got the CIB in WWII, that was an automatic Bronze Star?

Just saw this SFC William Farrell, and I truly don’t know. I just pulled his awards and decorations off the TWS website.
