LOL, not really going to "change combat" all that much. Still have to find and subdue the enemy. It may improve some individual combat tactics, but it's not new smart bullet that can find, and acquire and dispatch the target all by itself.

MAJ Charles Blake - LOL, thanks sir. I'll run around like I'm trying to tag someone else. Truth is, I shoot steel plate and other competitions and a very well-built 45, 40, or 9...all can put a lot of hurt on multiple targets, in very short order, in the hands of someone with a lot of practice. Practice shooting in multiple practice scenarios would do as much...or more, than a new weapon. Just sayin'. Whoops, there I go again being realistic. Apologies sir. :-)

Semper Fi Brother, I'm right there with you. The MC had the report a few years ago that demonstrated caliber of round didn't matter as much as placement... go figure.
My son and I shoot steel matches as well. Great training and good times!

MAJ Charles Blake I had a friend of mine, also former military and LEO get me back into shooting. First long range, and just shooting practice; then he got me going with steel challenge. Now he is working on having me join him in "run and gun" competitions. And yep, a .22 can do plenty of damage in the right place.
Awesome to get your son out shooting Major, kudos sir.

I had to read that 2 to 3 times before I could understand what was trying to be said. Sad.
