I have always said that if the women can do exactly the same thing as the men, go for it. If they can't they don't need to be there!!! I have no doubt there are women that could probably "one up" the men, but you better have your sh#t together before you do.

Training with the Marines at Quantico, we were in the field with both men and women. One of the guys started talking trash to one of the women (we were all Academy Midshipmen) about standards. She challenged him to pull ups in full Utilities, boots and rolling gear we had on. He said, ladies 1st, and she proceeded to knock out 50 pull ups, looked over at him while at the top of the bar, and asked if she should go on. He said no, you win!

I remember reading this. My first MOS was military police. I knew then that there are certain women who have what it takes. Even better in this article is that this was a National Guard Soldier which I once was. Active component often puts us down but then the active component realizes later is that we bring special skill sets like setting up internet and fixing all kinds of things that many in the active component can't do. National Guard Army Reserve enlisted and officers burnt both ends against the middle because we have to stay at the same level of competence as the active-duty yet we also have Separate Lives for much of our life.https://www.army.mil/article/1645/female_soldier_receives_silver_star_in_iraq

OK, all well and good, but when did the US Army start awarding Infantry Badges in AIT?
The two Infantry Badges that the US Army has are the EIB (Expert Infantryman Badge) and the CIB (Combat Infantryman Badge).
Branch Insignia and 'distinctive items authorized for infantry personnel' ARE NOT BADGES, nor are they permanent. 'Distinctive items authorized for infantry personnel' have specific rules for wear, which happens to be very similar for the rules of wear for the Green Beret. And for those senior officers and senior NCOs flaunting those rules - shame on you.
And the authors of stories like this need to stop inserting additional bias into the mix by making statements such as "For the women, it will be an especially powerful moment." As if it is not an especially powerful moment for the men, or any other graduate of ANY US Army MOS producing school.
"The recruits are preparing for their final training exercise and the road march to Honor Hill, where they’ll receive their infantry badges in a solemn soldiers-only ceremony. For the women, it will be an especially powerful moment."

SSG Robert Webster - one female who was butt ugly and wore glasses like a librarian messed around with another Soldier having oral sex after hours. They were both kicked out but the kids were calling her" Action Jackson" since her name was Jackson. Drill sergeants have a great sense of humor. When they finally drop their mean drill sergeant routine they are as funny as hell. I finally noticed that the last week of basic when they were finally glad that it was almost over.

SSG Robert Webster - I am sorry Robert, my point was that there are soldiers that can kick ass. I don't agree that it will be easy having females in the Infantry. I am a former MP enlisted and I am still an MP officer. I just stuck up for a military police National Guard woman who did infantry tactics and cleared trenches. I just threw it in for s**** and giggles

LTC (Join to see) - Unfortunately in this area s**** and giggles do not cut the mustard.
We could also use Combat Medic Specialist (68W) for an example. I know many that are female that could kick ass and take names all the while carrying a load similar to and at times much heavier than a male Infantryman. I know that several that I have known over the years actually cringe when that video clip of CPT Sarah Cudd was released as an example of female intestinal fortitude (it is, but it does not set that good of an example).
In the pictures that I have attached is CPT Fiona Peden, whom I would put up against most of these individuals as a soldier to be emulated and looked up to. And she would probably would kick my fourth point of contact for posting these pictures. She earned her EFMB as a PFC in 1991, while serving with the 82nd. I do know one thing for sure, I would be able to count on her to perform any task that would be necessary after a 12 mile forced road march in under three hours whether it would be a fighting task or a medical task.

SSG Robert Webster - thank you for showing me some real life person that you could trust with your life to protect your six or to be your trusted medic in combat.

I noticed some odd things in this article. I am not quite understanding the separation between men and women. In 1981, I attended Army MP School (AIT). While my company had no females, our sister company had an entire platoon of females. With the exception of 2 weeks of law enforcement training, the remaining training was all Infantry training. The training was the same for both males and females. I don’t know why they seem to be reinventing the wheel here.
Also, while stationed in Germany, we had mixed gender rooms on the same floors. Some rooms were all male and some all female. There never was an issue with mixing the sexes.

Well I was a brand new second Lieutenant at an MP Company in San Luis Obispo there was a sergeant that was about to go through UCMJ proceedings. He had been hitting on a very attractive younger female and Panama while they were on two weeks of training in 1995. I guess this Sergeant persisted and blocked her exit from a room and was trying to proposition her. She came to our Command and told them that he had shown her naked pictures of himself in a Polaroid while they are both sitting in a car. I believe the ncos went and inspected his car and found those pictures. Based on the evidence at hand, it looked like they were going to proceed to get him for fraternization. This Guard unit was getting mobilised to go to Germany to Kaiserslautern and some other parts of Germany for actual military police title 10 duties. So even Mixed Company, you will see still see sexual harassment fraternization. I'm sure a few pregnancies will occur and people will get kicked out over their inability to control their libidos.
