All of the Essex class carriers were/are proud ships. Though one will always stand out to me - USS Oriskany (CV 34).

PO3 Jason M. - One of my uncles served aboard her for multiple deployments to Vietnam. If I remember correctly his first was about 1964. I know that he made at least two deployments on the Oriskany, if not three.

PO3 Jason M. - Thanks. I already knew of that site plus a couple of others. What I really need to do is pull out his DD-214 (which I have somewhere) and check it out. As for some of the other stuff to help figure out things like plaques and other memorabilia, sadly they are gone since he had a house fire that destroyed almost everything. And he passed away a few years ago.
