To be honest I think the frigate concept in modern naval warfare would seem to be viable. Certainly the littoral fleet has a regional purpose; but, other conflict areas will most likely appear on the horizon in the coming decades PO1 Tony Holland

The Figlets are very old tech; the tactical systems would need to be replaced to be compatible, it has old engines, etc. And these hulls are as old as 45 years old now; they were not built like battlewagons, so there would be lots of hull/mech/elec problems with them if they were reactivated.

As an FFG sailor (USS Rentz) don't... just don't! There are plenty of hulls out there that we could buy at a significant savings, and then upgrade to our own C4I capabilities/needs.
