No, The Army Isn't Making All Soldiers Take This New Physical Test — Yet

I thought the delay in fielding a new test was because of the issues around having to get new equipment for every unit. The current test only requires (if wanted) a pad for the sit ups and soldiers are already issued one if needed to take the test in a more austere environment.
This test looks like a unit will have to have several weight sets, high bars for the leg tuck, bars for the dead lift, medicine balls. Are units going to truck this equipment with them to deployments or long field exercises?
I wonder about the 25 meter sprint/drag/carry. The type of terrain will have an effect on the outcome. Dragging weights on wet grass will surely be easier then damp gravelly dirt, or sand. Running on these surfaces will also change with the conditions. I am trying to figure out how these tests can be standardized
It looks like a great thing to do for a PRT session..but as a standard test?

Good points. Although, if we are deployed, it might be a little late for the CRT, so maybe at that point the conventional test would be better for austere environments; IF they bother to administer either.
Maybe instead of CRT being a point based system, they make it Go/No-Go. Then they could assign a passing "range", that could allow for commanders with integrity, to fluctuate the "range" based on terrain, while also NOT allowing for the terrain to be impractical crazy.

the CRT actually looks like a very good PFT for the Army. If they dont adopt this they wont adopt anything ever

They need to work on scoring and implementation. It has potential to be good but it is going to take time to get it to work with like promotions and the like. I think they should do it but it will take time to get equipment and units trained on how to do it. Then soldiers use to doing it. It will take years to do but it will be good to do it.

I've been waiting many years for the Combat Readiness Test. Hopefully it goes though.
