lots of folks exaggerate their service. As a civilian friend once said, weren't there any cooks in the war?

I wasn't a cook but I was a company clerk in Japan at a time when the Army could have sent me to Vietnam. I did what I was asked to do where I was asked to do it, much to the chagrin of my wife and kids. As a draftee I had no say in any of it

Another "stolen valor" case.
Funny, I never heard of anyone falsely claiming to be a clerk or a cook, or even a truck driver. It's almost always a SEAL.

A hungry force doesn't fight very well. Also, cooks nowadays can do some magic.

Hey, I like to eat. Most NCO’s stopped at the mess hall for coffee when they got a chance even in Vietnam!PO2 Robert Aitchison

The odd thing is that most people would call me out right there and there when I mentioned I served in the military. Because as we all know, this is not the Chinese military so seeing an Asian man in the military especially in the Marine Corps kind of hurt the feelings of those who never served.

Yes, I agree with you. Sometimes I'm guilty of assumption when it comes to woman in the military especially the petite type such as Asian.

No one is immune. I think the same way sometimes when I look in the mirror. 5'4", 110 lbs, 25" waist? Who the hell let me in?
