My cousin's youngest kid just started college. He did very well in High School in their little town. He called me before he left, and worried that he wasn't going to do well because there are so many people from better schools, etc. I told him that he was smart, period, no qualifiers, and to have fun. He called me the other day and told me he wondered why he was ever worried. He said there are so many dumb kids at his school!

My personal take is that kids are not taught ancient history, European history and American history with out a bias filter. Also, kids are not taught American civics in school anymore. Schools produce kids as a product of a union bias based education system slanted left of center. Your opinions may vary.

And we have administrators and Canadian schools and possibly American schools that are purposely punishing teachers for doing the right thing. It really seems unethical for a teacher to be fired for giving zeros to students. It also seems stupid to have it a rule that teachers can't give zeros to failing students. It basically rewards bad behavior. Here's a good example in Canada and I'm sure it's spreading in the United States due to Liberal ideas of lack of discipline.http://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.2751007
