When family members join active duty, one must not expect to see them very often from that point on. Deployment abroad means being away for months at a time, and these missions can last for well over a year. Mothers, fathers, friends, and children leave their homes to serve our country, leaving behind loved ones who anxiously wait for them to return.
Of course, these homecomings are always something to remember. They’re made extra special when they’re a surprise. Just take a look at how emotional this family reunion is in the clip below!
Joe Egersheim, a master sergeant in the US Army, had just returned home after about a year when he decided to give his two kids, Cole and Olivia, the surprise of their lives.
He knew the twins would be at the Law High School football game: His son would be playing and his daughter would be cheerleading on the field.
He found a creative way to sneak onto the field: He disguised himself as a referee wearing sunglasses.
Cole was the first one to recognize his father and he couldn’t believe his eyes! Olivia then ran into his arms from the sidelines, and the father was reunited with his children for the first time in a long time.
