Okay my friend SFC William Farrell
1. "the Army will hold a probable-cause hearing this weekend at Fort Meade, Md., to review evidence against Grazioplene. In April, the service announced in a terse statement that it had charged the retired general with six counts of rape of a minor but disclosed no other details. Army officials have declined to answer questions about the case since then. ...
The identity of the victim was redacted from the records. It is unclear what led the Army to open an investigation into the case three decades later. Under military law, there is no statute of limitations for rape."
2. Child rape encompasses statutory rape after all which can be "consenting" between an adult and a child.
3. When I was enlisted in 1974 one of my platoon mates married his wife when she was 14 and he was 15. They were from the hills where young marriages were not uncommon.
Personal background: I was molested and threatened with death by a pedophile before I was 10 years old in the early 1960s. I knew people who were convicted of statutory rape usually under the influence of drugs in the 1970s.
Now back to the bizarre case against James J. Grazioplene who retired as a MG in 2005. The unnamed victim ostensibly was raped repeatedly between 1984 and 1989 while then Maj/LTC James J. Grazioplene was assigned at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; Fort Bragg, N.C.; Amberg, Germany; Bindlach, Germany; and Woodbridge, Va..
This unnamed child accompanied or somehow managed to move wherever he went for six years.
I expect the charges are false and this is a result of his inspector general duties which caused trouble for a number of violators.
I hope the truth comes out a soon as possible. Hopefully those who dragged this up after 30 years will be held to scrutiny.

LTC Stephen F. With regards to #3, I am sorry you had to go through that Stephen, I really am and I know you've mentioned this before. With regards to the charges against him, I do hope the truth comes out, whatever that may be and if he's guilty, he should be held fully accountable. If he's innocent, his accuser should be held fully accountable.
One article says, "The Army's announcement referred to "six specifications of rape of a minor on multiple occasions." That could mean the alleged assaults involved different victims, locations, times or a combination of those factors." So it may not be the same child or it could be a family member. I dont know his familia status.
I believe there are plenty of generals and lower ranking people out there who have pissed people off in their rise to power but you dont see them being recalled to active duty to face charges. I would think the Army has enough evidence to go forward on something like this.

SFC William Farrell - my basic question is the Army waited 12 years to bring the charges up. It would have made sense to initiate this case in the 1990s soon after the alleged child rapes were reported. It is suspicious that this inspector general [who would have been thoroughly vetted before being appointed to that post] is accused so long after he retired.

Yeah, just too much not known at this point and just enough known. This demonstrates the problem with the press, bits and pieces of information are put to the public. We aren't stupid, something happened, but what exactly?
