Although a bit long, this is a rather good biography of one of my favorite actors. From his life as an Academy Award winning actor to his military service and friendships with the likes of Winston Churchill, William F. Buckley, and Prince Ranier of Monaco, he led a most fascinating life. His autobiographies are a fun read especially his stories about Erroll Flynn. When World War II broke out in Europe, he quit Hollywood and was given a commission. When the war was over, he was a Lieutenant Colonel and rarely spoke about the war publicly.

Is there a biography? Movie or otherwise? Sounds pretty interesting. How many people can go awol, resign their commission by telegraph, then resume their career ? No doubt WWII was a factor.

LTC Bill Koski It definitely was a factor. Sandhurst is like our West Point, so that gave him a leg up.
