One of the drawbacks of taking shop class out of middle school. Power tool safety shouldn't be self help!

I'm going to be that guy and point out that the blade is set too high. And for those that didn't know that was a thing, your blade should only be set 1/4" above your material on a table saw. This, with the proper blade, will help against chipping at the cut. Also a blade guard and feather board should be used to prevent kickback. With those things in mind and staying aware for your hand placement and use of a push stick, nobody should ever lose a digit.

SawStop is awesome but you have to replace major parts of your saw at great expense.....Agreed it is worth every penny when you still have your fingers but it is a hard sell sometimes. I am a member of the "Run your finger through the table saw " club. Just glad it was 3/8 and not 3/4 i was running through!!!

PVT James Strait - I agree, tell that to a professional carpenter that may have to buy 2-3 new saws a year....that's the only reason they haven't gone viral so to speak. They are perfect for the DIY person that is not totally familiar and an all the time user.
