Every time I watch this speech I get chills. Leadership is more than yelling at soldiers, it is a commitment to lead regardless of how you feel. A leader has to preserver in spite of overwhelming odds. Your soldiers look to you. That is the greatest responsibility that anyone can have.

A great clip of a great speech. Gettysburg is one of the movies that I get emotional about. This scene, as well as those of Lo Armistead, just make whatever room I'm in dusty. And don't even go there when Sergeant Major Kilrain is giving his final 'goodbye' to Chamberlain.

I've read a number of books on the Civil War that go into great detail on Colonel Chamberlain. He was one tremendously talented man and could not have been more perfect in the role he played during that savage conflict.
