I saw an article the other day about some dimwit "journalist" that tried going into a gun shop to show how easy it is to get a rifle. He filled out the background check paperwork and they called him back later that day to tell him his order was canceled because he had a DV charge. He still tried to spin it to favor his baseless argument.

That wouldn't be hard to do, he's got a Domestic Violence charge and can still buy any gun he wants second hand from legal gun owner without that gun owner knowing he has a DV charge.

The point he was trying to make was how easy it was to go into a gun shop and buy a rifle. And in a number of states you have to go through a FFL dealer to make a personal sale. It happened in IL and the law there states that with private sales, the seller is required to go to the IL State Police website and verify that the buyer has a valid FOID.
