Ultimately I agree that the free market will sort it out. When it comes to reimbursement, copays, deductible, out of pocket maximums, network providers, covered services, etc, free market is the best and only route to safe the healthcare system here.
If everyone has insurance, the healthy end up paying for the ill (who in turn don't care about being healthy because they have an easy fall back plan). Universal healthcare also decreases reimbursement to providers because there is little to no cash option available to keep it in check.
Yes, there will people always negatively affected by any social reform, especially healthcare. You can and will never escape that. But at some point, that decision has to be made. Will the need and want of the majority outweigh the negative impact on the severe minority of the population.

If the free market will sort it out, why do nations without a completely free market have far lower heath care costs?
