As a parent of a Kings Point midshipman, I'm glad POTUS nominated a KP graduate for Marad.

SN Greg Wright - It's a great deal. We got lucky that I worked with KP grad (that played on the football team). I was talking about my son being recruited, to play football, and he asked if we looked at KP. Of course, I said, "what's KP?" He sent the coach my son's film...and the rest is history. Now, if I can get my youngest son to KP!

PO1 Don Gulizia - Tell him that the $ is definitely better in the Merchants, but the sea time is also a lot heavier. In fact, the CG only credits Navy Sailors with 1/2 day per day that they were assigned a ship that sailed regularly, when issuing the MM credential. Any Merchant sailor is going to have 3, 4 times the sea-time than a comparable USN Sailor. It's not that onerous though, if you love it.

SN Greg Wright - Interesting. So with my 8 1/2 years of sea duty, I would only get credited 4?

SCPO (Join to see) - I think it's because of those 8 1/2 years of "sea duty"...how many of those days were actually at sea? Depending on the actual rotation (cruise vs. yard period), the half credit might work in your favor.

I have no clue who he is. I like who he has picked so far so I'm confident.

He was the Military Sealift Command CO. The USNS fleet. So the point is, he knows everythign there is to know about large cargo ships, so he's the perfect pick for this position.
