MCPO Roger Collins - Most corporations not only don't pay taxes, they get rebates. That's part of the reason we have a $20 trillion deficit. Very wealthy pay far less than they should and in both cases because of loopholes in tax code that aren't available to middle class (carried interest, shell corporations, offshore strategies). Instead of reversing this, most recent proposals want to give them more tax breaks - at the expense of middle class. One option being considered eliminates 15% bracket and replaces it with 25% - while lowering taxes on enterprise and wealthy. We've heard the "trickle down" theory before, it didn't work then and won't work now because they just pocket the cash and laugh all the way to the bank while they hire and produce offshore. Lobbyists will push for their clients with tons of cash and we have one vote. Expansion is fine but not at the expense of bankrupting consumers because at a point the middle class no longer has discretionary income to purchase goods and services. It has to be a balanced strategy rather than feed the top and hope it trickles down.

SSG Robert Webster - Agree that the Scandinavian success stories aren't totally successful, but it's the one that most resort to in support of Socialism. I prefer our system, with some improvements any day. We have to get government back in business of serving the people vice big money and big business though. I have advanced to the middle class since joining the civilian world and it's associated economy based on capitalism, in fact, I suppose, at this point in time upper 1%. From extremely humble beginnings.

Warner is wealthiest in Senate I believe. Without looking it up, I believe entitlements are biggest cash cow, interest on debt is up there also. Defense budget over $600 Billion. Ryan is spinning his wheels with sequester and all the rest. The Pledge to Grover Norquist was cute also - for awhile. Opportunities are in duplicity of efforts, cutting out waste, optimizing, needless spending etc. They claim to want a balanced budget but when it's time to make any cuts the jobs and spending for their Districts are fought for. Like Henny Penny nursery rhyme. Who wants a balanced budget and to lower deficit? We do. Who is is willing to face their District with cuts? Not me, check somebody else. A total circle jerk.

It was an unfortunate series of events that caused that school shooting, and no law, however well crafted, would have prevented it. The only thing that may have stopped that particular incident, was the mother not having an easy combination , or, revealing to her son the combination code to the lock on her Weapon Cabinet.
