If he asked him to do it........and then terminated him when he didn't........that smacks of a quid pro quo situation.

The memo was allegedly written shortly after the election. The investigation continued, nothing was found, Trump deemed him unable to properly do his job as it dragged on.

Maj Kevin "Mac" McLaughlin - The investiggation into Flyn which is what he was trying to shut down , that investigation is still ongoing and has now spread to multiple agencies from Justice, then to DOD and now Treasury. I doubnt they are all wasting thier time if nothing was found, in fact enough hasd been found and annouced to put flynn behind p bars with not pension payments. He took money from the Russian government and did not have the Permissions he needed to do so he acted as an Agent for a foreign government and only register doing so after he was caught and never got permission to do that either.

So why do you say nothing was found?

The memo doesn't say he asked to have the investigation ended. The press is interpreting it that way because that's the lens they use when looking at any Republican President. If this had been a Democrat President, it would be simply the President was HOPING (as the direct quote really is), rather than directing, that when the investigation was completed that no formal charges would be filed, just like in the "30K email bleach-bit State Department email server in the bathroom" incident that Comey also oversaw.

And food for thought - if Comey believed this was truly obstruction, he would have been required by law to report it which would have resulted in yet another investigation that would already be splashed on the front pages of every big-city rag. Since we don't have that, there are 3 options: 1) Comey committed a crime by not reporting obstruction, or 2) Comey did not believe this was obstruction and will therefore have to exonerate Trump when he is called to testify or 3) the reported memo either does not exist or is simply another Dan Rather-style "fake but accurate" invention of a hostile press.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - From the NYT article: "Mr. Comey and his aides perceived Mr. Trump’s comments as an effort to influence the investigation, but they decided that they would try to keep the conversation secret"

LTC Stephen B. - Law enforcement is allowed to do so, and you helped prove my point that it was reported by mentioning his aides.

Your take is right to the degree you stated it. However, the unauthorized release of that material is illegal. And, I would bet some type of markings were there. Someone in the FBI leaked it, further hurting the claim of impartiality by them.

If frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their ass when they jumped. This is another in a string of stories being put on in the media based upon anonymous sources or perhaps lying or non existent sources.

The WaPo has been found, more than once recently, putting out stories using unnamed sources they could not back up and were flatly denied, on the record, by others.

This is becoming a clear strategy by the WaPo, the NYT and other media outlets to run with unsubstantiated stories to create a flurry of "controversy" around Trump. When the stories are proven false or cannot be moved forward, they just go quietly away. This has been the left's strategy to impede and slow down Trump on his agenda. The media is supportive and complicit in some cases.

For many of you that complain about the system you are seeing it protect itself in the biggest possible way and yet you act like it is not happening. I have never seen anything like this in my life.

The US political establishment is starting to resemble professional wrestling. Everyone knows what the outcome will be they just need to orchestrate the events to get there. Along came Trump and flipped over the applecart and all hell is breaking loose.

You might want to consider that many of the media outlets, many on the left and some Republican cronies are all defending the castle. What they believe is their castle and outsiders are not allowed. They will do whatever it takes to defend the status quo, their power base and their income.

CPT Alexander Grant - We got Iraq for a lot of reasons but not because the NYT published a story. Without recounting the reasons we went into Iraq (post 9-11) suffice it to say it was not because of the NYT.
