They used to keep a running count of different figures in the Globe back in the 60's-70's.....This was one of them. Good Morning Mark..

Thanks for reminding us of the dismals days of the Vietnam War when nightly casualty statistics were broadcast SP5 Mark Kuzinski. We tended to be numbed by the numbers unless of course you knew one of those killed.
Of course VC and NVA deaths were always higher that US deaths which was puzzling at times.
Medevac helped reduced the deaths of casualties as medical triage had advanced light-years from WWII. The doctors, nurses and other medical teams worked overtime to save as many lives as they could.
The Vietnam War was also the first war where combat was the primary cause of death. In the US Civil War, WWI and WWII disease including infection were the primary causes of death.
