The most surprising part of this article is that they want to get rid of the military industrial complex. I was living in the San Francisco bay area when the Navy reactivated one of the older ships and wanted to home port it at Alameda. The nuts came out of the woodwork complaining about the nuclear capability, they didn't want it. As I understand it, the Navy said fine, pulled everything out of the bay area and closed all of those bases. Then reality set in. There were two air craft carriers hope ported in Alameda, when the dollars left all of the whiners were complaining that the Navy wasn't fair. Too many don't think of the second and third order effects of their actions/decisions.

"...would allow CA to be as fruitful as it wants..."? Seriously? I suspect that you don't live in CA otherwise you'd know that CA lives by federal subsidies. The state receives more from the District of Calamity than it sends there. Indeed, it receives more federal subsidies than the sum total of taxes collected from its own citizens. (Guess who it's obliged to cater to) And despite this fact, the state is bankrupt, financially as well as morally. The simple truth is that many Americans happen to live in CA. We're not going to support secession. Indeed, we'll fight it. The problem is that the media supports the secessionists. That's why you hear their voices and not ours. But when push comes to shove, there will be no "Calexit". There will simply be continued whining.

I agree, CPT Jack Durish. Ever hear CA is full of fruits and nuts? They produce a lot of them. And there's at least two ways to take that statement. ;)

Col Joseph Lenertz - Well now you owe me 5 minutes, Colonel, the time it took me to clean my keyboard of coffee! CPT Jack Durish More than that, they don't feed themselves, the can't even water themselves. If they exit and Nevada cuts off the water (did you know those greedy fucks wanted to dig a ditch from the Columbia to Cali?) they'll start their new independence in immediate crisis. It's baffling to me how people can simply ignore reality in the face of their ideals. Sorry, California, but if you drop a Pepsi can one billion times, it's NEVER going to fall upwards. Not ever.

I thought that this sort of campaign was shown to be illegal and just wrong headed by Appomattox 1865. The United States might not be a perfect country but it is the one I and all of the Californian secessionists live. How about using the money & influence to increase good in the country vice taking such an ill advised position? What would the secessionists do after making their quest other than begin to muddle up the social works of that country? Democracy might not be the ideal form of government but it beats hands down the other forms of government tried previously! Do the world a favor and work to lessen the impact & power of government.
