I don't see how deploying more US troops to Syria and Iraq is going to somehow "roll back"Iran and its growing army of proxy militias. I hate to say it, but the only pressure on Iran that is likely to work (besides direct warfare) is fomenting internal rebellion and quietly eliminating their leaders. You could try to cut off all of their monetary sources and their food supplies (i.e. an embargo), but that would lead to war against another nuclear power and they would like start by striking Israel.

Sounds like an appropriate plan. Good post. This is the kind of approach that can appeal to the moderates without turning it, (or having it turned back against us), as an attack on Islam.
