Thomas Jefferson certainly displayed a prescient view on where corporations could take the US. He wanted an agrarian society of farmers with little real industry but American history did not support that outcome.

I have always found the feud between Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton interesting. Different ideology that still prevails today as we know. I always wonder how our nation would have evolved, corporations and banks vs agriculture if it had not been for Pres. Washington's support for Hamilton and his vision of a true central bank. I think about this everytime the Federal Reserve Board meets in their FOMC meeting.
