General warns of yearlong CR impact to US Army aviation

The Aviation community has itself to blame for their own shortcomings and failure to strategically plan for future years in RL progression, fleet maintenance and management and also in utilizing the 10 Aviation Support Battalions and their maintainers to assist in upgrades. There are cost efficient methods that could be used but it would not include an increase to the overall aviation budget.

Aviation is hurting right now between aging airframes, backordered parts, and cuts to flying hour programs that limit crews to what the book considers bare minimum flying hours to remain proficient. Those minimums are not enough to remain proficient, especially if you're a part-timer.
