I would surmise that like any other tycoon, Trumps Returns are being revised and worked over even years after submission. I would think like any other politician his opponents would gladly dissect his returns and formulate a story about how "evil" some of the companies he invested in are.
Sometimes people will stretch the facts to the limit. I remember in the late 80s Rosie O'Fatass tried ti say Tom Selleck was an arms dealer because he with a Walmart Commercial, and Walmart sold guns.

Likely they would create controversies (fair or not), he's not legally required to and he isn't being politically required to, so he doesn't.

Who cares about his tax returns. He's rich. Get over it. He probably claim a crap ton more deductions than you and I could ever dream of. I would bet that he probably doesn't want to release them because the press will make him out to be evil for taking deductions he was legally allowed to take.
