That goes against the constitution which guarantees the right to assembly. Individuals who are violent during protests will likely be charged which to me is enough

Those were my thoughts. It would be disturbing if such a bill makes it to the Governor's desk and gets signed into law.

Interesting, but what about the claim that it redefines what a riot is?
riot - a violent disturbance of the peace by a crowd.
A riot by its relative definition is not a peaceful protest, and for the most part damages property.

However, the intent of the law under discussion actually is much worse, because it attempts to criminalizes an act that MAY lead to a riot. This is really a method to quietly further a 'police state' and actually is a way to allow the police/government to arrest suspects prior to any infliction of public harm. Isn't that the premise of "The Minority Report" as written by Phillip Dick (not the movie version)?

Unfortunately, the article didn't provide a lot of details as to what the law actually does. If the law is actually as vague as the article makes it seem it will probably be overturned. The government is held to a very high standard when regulating speech.
