Before Senator Inouye shipped out for WWII, despite the internment, his father solemnly told his son to be safe. However, if you die, just know this country has been good to us.

The lesson we learned is the minorities who did not enjoy the full rights as Americans were willing to make sacrifices for a bigoted country.

As an army officer I had no tolerance for racism. I know how it feels to be ridiculed for being a minority. I told the soldiers despite the color of our skin, we all bleed red. It is that simple.
