Last day of Superbowl Week. Lots is being said about half time performances and what controversy will come out of it or not. I have not really liked the half time performances in many years and it is usually when I go get some food or another beer. One thing that has stood out for me was the 1991 Star Spangled Banner which was belted out by Whitney Houston. Truly something at that time that cemented Americans as one. Maybe some should go back and remember what it is to be American and what it was like back when the military was not as respected as we are now.

Great share! Off topic did you know Whitney Houston was an Operah singer before a pop singer? :)

Maj Marty Hogan - lol...Agreed... I usually state that now of days because I'm unfortunately surrounded by a lot ignorant people... sigh.... that's why I love coming on here! Intelligent conversations seem fewer and far between today in the civilian population.

SFC (Join to see), I was unaware that Whitney Houston had any operatic training or performed in any operas. I always thought her foundation was in gospel singing and church choir performances.

LTC Stephen C. - it wasn't really something to write home about as her passion was pop, but yes she did study Opera as she is one of few that can hit the highest known note of a female soprano, in our modern day.

She sang it the BEST! I blast it on my exterior home speakers on the appropriate holidays. Also played her version at my last promotion, not a dry eye to be found. So sad we lost her to her demons .
