Can the other 49 states vote them out?

SGT David Baker I suspect our next civil war will be over states splitting off, but I always pictured TX leaving and taking the rest of the oil and food producing states with them. There was a KGB defector named Yuri something who predicted that scenario back in the 1970's. I just hope I dont live long enough to see it happen. That being said, I would vote CA out in a second, and band their citizens from immigrating. Their left wing ideology is a plague, and because they are part of the US, they never need to suffer the consequences of their foolish actions.

You only need a 42 state vote.

SFC (Join to see) You need to more, it can be hard to get 42 states on board.

Cpl Joshua Caldwell - I could be wrong, but I believe in 1865 when the law was passed regarding a state trying to secede, we did not have 50 states. So it currently says 42 majority votes by other states to agree in the separation.

I'm pretty sure states trying to secede was settled in 1865. Other then the 11 military bases, there's still the BLM and Forest service lands which most if not all are under federal regulation comes to about 36 million acres of Federally owned land in California. So that would pretty much leave California only 65.3 million acres (minus the acreage of military bases) of actual land they could fight over. So really, we could negotiate with all the liberals to move to SoCal and grant them a Reservation......lol...... no pun intended to the Native American populations. Just a thought of possible resolution.

My apologies, Doug. My remark was not a serious one; nor, in my mind, the likelihood of California actually leaving the Union. I may be wrong but I don't think Marty's post was intended to be taken seriously either.

Extending Arizona south to the Sea of Cortez and the California Border to point in the Baja would shorten the Border by hundreds of miles and make easier to monitor.
