Unusual indeed. Says he's retiring (happy for him) and not being reassigned but to be told you're being relieved without an explanation is disturbing. Doubt Trump made that decision but somewhere between the Trump Team, Defense Department, and the Congressional representative for D.C., someone knows why the sudden removal without a replacement is happening. Would've been more appropriate to say "thank you for your service but it is time for a change and we have selected Brigadier General "whatever" to replace you and a Change of Command ceremony is scheduled for ..." Instead this feels like a disciplinary move for something he did or said and knowing Army Times, they would've reported by now if he was under investigation.

MSgt John Taylor - so you would agree that the article and sources using the term "relieved" was inaccurate reporting then. Cause we all inow "relieved" implies fired not "his tour of duty" is up.

MAJ James Woods - At a change of command ceremony, one commander "relieves" another, I would not consider that a firing. The general and his staff know the date and time of end of term and can make arrangements for a proper send off. No commander, to include the commander in chief, gets to stay as long as they want.

MSgt John Taylor - oh you want to play a game of semantics. If the CG and his staff knew his tour has officially ended and he was "relinquishing" command to the incoming commander this wouldn't be a story. But since you wish to ignore the part that he has been relieved without cause; given no reason or presumption this is just a routine change with no malice. That the manner this is conducted is disrespectful towards a commander who has served his country. Yes please correlate a Change of Command as a moment every Commander is being "relieved with no explanation necessary." It isn't personal.

MSgt John Taylor president Obama fired almost all appointees but no one made mention of it. When a new President takes office all Political appointees hand in resignations. And seeing how currupt the last administration was its good that he left

Since it's effective as soon as PE Trump is inaugurated, looks like he did. If it had been President Obama, it would've been effective before 12:01 PM.
