Trading & Supply Commercial Intern Analyst:
Key responsibilities and Job description:
The intern will gain exposure to the Trading and Supply, Shipping & Maritime and Commercial Classes of Business within Downstream with possible exposure to Upstream and other Downstream businesses. During this time, the intern will:
• Receive exposure to wide range of different areas of the Trading & Shipping business, leading to overall picture of hydrocarbon Trading & Supply world, developing a holistic view on how the business works;
• Develop commercial mindset & understanding of freight scheduling and oil operations, evaluating performance against a contractual requirement;
• Interface with multitude of stakeholders to deliver commercial value add;
• Develop in the following areas:
o Negotiating skills
o External counter party interfaces
o Real Time delivery challenges
o Exposure to high pressure, fast paced work environment
o Interface across multi Group Businesses including J/V’s
Typical Roles:
The Commercial Trading & Shipping Graduate will be required to deliver on three key projects during their assignment. Projects may include, but are not limited to:
• Generation of Economic and Financial analysis KPI’s.
o Allow analysis of data to spot value leakage in trading and supply chains.
• Gap analysis of STUSCO Shipping business management system.
o Provides overview of corporate governance structure and processes.
• Inland Chartering / Scheduling Support
o Key primary transport function supporting Trading and other Downstream businesses.
Study Level:
• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors in Marine Transportation or Commercial Maritime field of study from a Maritime College; Management; Graduation date of Fall 2017 or Spring 2018
Discipline / Major: Logistics, Marine Transportation, Marine Operations, Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Maritime Administration, Maritime Studies etc.
Minimum cumulative GPA: 3.20
Optional: Commercial tanker seagoing experience leading to appropriate Deck U.S.Coast Guard License certification(s), leadership experience and ranking within respective cadet regiment hierarchy. Certification(s) should be noted on resume as there are various certifications.
