Of course, this was a terrible chapter in the history of the world. There are many. However, this type of apology is entirely self-serving, nothing more.

If they only knew just how close the Germans and the Japanese came to developing the Bomb before we did, then maybe they would realize that the development was an unavoidable consequence of the early days of quantum physics research. I think it's fortunate that the US developed it first.

More people were killed in the firebombing of Japan than the A-Bomb. They can make that call even though it ended the war now. Soviet Union wanted to divide Japan like Germany.

A lot of vets owe their lives to the bomb as the Japanese had no intention of giving up easily or at all and vowed to fight to the death.
