As an infantryman I would non-concur with this assessment that every leader should embrace gender integration SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I worked with women in various assignments and as a graduate of first co-ed USMA class who saw how women were forced to fit in - some exceled and others were broken.
Change for change sake is foolish. Some women can excel in ground combat and armored and artillery units but most would not meet the requirements and should not be made to fit in by lowering requirements. I have seen that happen too many times in my 34 years in uniform.

My only argument is this.
Say you run a tank crew, you have a male loader, but you could have a female loader.

Your M1A2 Abrams holds 40 rounds, and we have war with another nation that has alot of tanks that has autoloaders. Now your already at a disadvantage because you have a human loader which tires out over the course of time. Because these 120mm shells aren't a light task, then you have to get this huge shell into a cannon breach that is about 3 times the size of the average watch face, in 7 seconds or your going to receive more incoming shells than your going to have outgoing, in other words, you are getting suppressed by a tank. In a tank, bad day in general.

So now this is just with a male loader, and they have difficulties with it as well, but who's going to tire quicker; a male, or female loader? And you'll see the either you have a slight disadvantage, or your going to have a huge disadvantage. Just how I think of it.

Yeah, they can do the job. But then again how long will it take them, vs a male counterpart to start wearing down in efficiency who will last longer in that roll of do or die?

In the Combat Arms field, you just can't lower the standards!!! I'm all for it, but the standards cannot be broken down!!!
