Donna Ableman I'm so frustrated and disappointed in most of the news channels, news organization and writers publishing articles for the major media giants, and the media giants on TV these days that I've boycotted them almost completely. I wathc no more evening National News or even local news (depressing). Currently, right now I watch FoxNews Online Live while I work at my desk through my MacBook Air (no commercials, just silence while they are on commercial break). They too have bias on certain issues and therefore I avoid the political crap they provide as well in most cases (but I do find them as one of the most fair and balanced channels, because they do have both opinions represented). I do get some of the other news around the world with them. If they disagree with one of their guests they interrupt them and make sure they take control of the interview. Hate it when they interview a guest right in the middle of an explanation. Very Rude - sound familiar?
I think the news media giants have gotten too big for their own good and they once again tried to influence the elections (like they have in the past), but failed. This inturn has made them even more smug in my opinion, because they all got it so wrong and didn't get who they wanted in the White House. Now they are being left out by the Transition Team - Very Cool. They lost their power and it hurts. Just my opinion on the subject. Great post Donna!
I owe you a vote up for this post tonorrow - ran out of ammunition early this morning!

Maybe the media should return to reporting the news and quit pushing an agenda. They have lost their credibility and are now in the same category as the hollyweird celebs, nothing but court jesters here to entertain.

I've found it easier to trust celebrities over news media. It is obvious to me when a celebrity is just giving an opinion, when they are presenting a well reasoned and researched argument, and when they obviously have no business trying to persuade anyone of anything. I'm not saying all celebrities are scientists or politicians. I'm just saying that their credibility is easy to verify.
Laymen watching the news have a much harder time verifying the stories reported and who is reporting them.

That is why I don't really have a problem with celebrities using their fame to spread their own ideological messages. I might do the same. But reporters and journalists who advertise themselves as intellectually honest and mean to serve the public are morally deficient. I don't even mind them weighing in on issues with their own professional opinion, as they should be well informed. But I think reporters and journalists have a responsibility to present as complete and honest a picture as possible. That it is expected by most Americans for them to fail even before they have spoken illustrates the vast degree to which mainstream media has failed.

The media has pissed away any credibility it may retained after the election. Getting news from the mainstream media must now be analyzed to remove the spin to find any nuggets of truth if they failed to take them out in the 1st rewrite.
