With this part of the world only really understanding war and the idea of getting ahead is only done when the vacuum of a leadership-less area I am not surprised that the PMF is doing this. They know what is about to happen, it happened already. First, someone comes in and removes the leadership, then a group comes in to try and force their ideas on to the newly "freed" people. Things get worse, in comes an outside force to remove them from power while yet another group hangs out in the shadows waiting for their turn to show up. The circle continues and continues and continues. Personally, even with more of an effort from coalition forces, I do not see a way that we break this cycle.

Cycles are critical and understanding this one - and the Iraqi government - and the Iranians involvement - means that even to liberate a place will only bring on the next cycle - until the real issues are confronted -and such is unlikely to happen in today's Iraq or Syria.
