Yesterday, we had a few scuffles about how I was such a horrible human being for saying that Scalia's death was a good thing. I'm not the bad person here: Justice Scalia is (or was.)

Justice Scalia consistently demeaned people for the sexual orientation, the color of their skin, their gender, etc. He said that people of color should go to "slower colleges." He said that a woman didn't have a right to control her own body. He said that individual people had a right to own guns when even Alexander Hamilton said they didn't. He said that massive donations from Koch Brothers PAC's were "free speech," but then argued that certain types of sex could be outlawed.
Far worse, he supported the death penalty, IN SPITE of the fact that it has killed over 100 innocent people since 1976. He compared LGBT individuals to "flagpole sitters," believing that homosexuality was a form of "mental illness." He crowned George Bush as president, when Al Gore won the election. I'm not the only one who couldn;t contain a smile on his face when Scalia kicked the bucket. Many other decent human beings, including people of color, LGBT individuals, and most of my generation-the future voters and leaders of the country, also breathed a sigh of relief.

And the cherry on top of the cake is that because Hillary Clinton is very likely to win this election, it will be her, and not a far-right republican, who will choose Scalia's successor in the Supreme Court. Although I would have prefered it be Bernie Sanders, or Jill Stein, or even Monica Moorehead who made the choice, Clinton's choice will be at least somebody with more common sense, human decency, and intelligence that Justice Scalia had.
Once again, Justice Scalia's death was good news, and most of the younger, more educated, more intelligent voters in this country feel that way.

However, you are a very misguided person and acting like an asshole who insists on digging the hole a little deeper with each post. Look, I'm screaming liberal compared to many of the people around here, but huh? Disagree with Scalia all you want, but there's no evidence he did anything with malice. He had a framework of interpretation that took him to some uncomfortable places but he stuck with it. He also spoke highly of his ideological opponents on the Court. Yes, I disagree with him on a number of points but he brought balance to the court (A balance I believe should be maintained).
Also, reveling in his death while excoriating him for his position on capital punishment seems a touch nonsensical. Standing against capital punishment is asserting that all life has value - including the lives of those that we deem unworthy of it.
