I'm surprised they did not redo Audie Murphy's To Hell and Back.

The sad part of this reality is that Hollywood keeps WWII films as their "safe risk" in their 2 to 5 year slate of cinematic films. They know and have the data that audiences will watch WWII films almost religiously. even in the direct to DVD or streaming films they do quite well in the home market, which only bolsters up the studios faith in these films. I believe that WWII films do well with modern markets due to the massive separation of generations who lived though it and WWIIs simple approach to understanding good vs evil.
But if we want to see a change we may really have to start with the viewers first, change their perspective of current gray understanding of good vs evil, then culturally and fiscally mitigate the fiscal risks of modern conflict films that show the modern essence of conflict in a manner that can go beyond the current standard of the "Bayhem" approach. Michael Bay's "Bayhem" style has proven itself to uniquely profitable approach which puts the studios in a hopeful state that modern conflicts can be engaging for global audiences but he is only one director/producer. More directors, producers, and screenwriters need to be brave to create a style that entices the global audience to be willing to look into the mirrors they currently don't flock to see in their entertainment. There are many folks here that can do this!
