http://amzn.to/2dPFqQ9 referenced in the article. A much more thorough treatment of the subject. Not a heavy read, but not light entertainment. Should be on your reading list.

Very interesting read, not the direction I thought it would take. Thanks for the post!

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Guns or aggression? Ultimately, as I read this essay I found another question forming: What difference, at this point, does it really make? Isn't the more important question: What should we do about it now? Should we vacate America and leave it to the "natives" to recreate their Stone Age society and pagan rituals? Ridiculous? Then what is the purpose of agonizing over the past? To make all non-native peoples feel guilty? That seems popular these days. To preclude the chance of repeating the experience in case we happen upon another "New World"? Those are the questions I am left with after reading the essay. I suppose that is of some value.

Cap'n Jack, I think back, and I can't find too many places, if anywhere, where some group of people haven't moved in and taken over someone else's bit of land, and lived there, 'happily ever after'. That is the way of history, and if everyone were to go back to their homeland from bazillions of years ago, or six thousand years ago, then where would everybody in the world end up?

Africa? The ocean? The Garden of Eden?

This is now. Like it or not, we have what we have.
