The numerous stories of those that never made it home because they were abandoned, euthanized or worse are why I'm thankful for the defense bill passed to ensure that this will not be a part of our future. The law requires that military dogs return to the U.S. to be retired and will give handlers the first chance to acquire the dogs once they are retired.
