I have to force myself to watch the ne from at least 3 sources just to get 1/2 the picture. A lot of people would rather drop dead than listen to FOX, CNN, ABC, Bretbart, etc...but if you don't challenge your go to media yo do yourself the injustice. Sometimes those whacky conspiracy theorists from the left AND the right get it right. Imagine getting Intel on the battlefield from only one questionable source. You'll find yourself at a much higher chance of walking into a bear trap.

I have always explored the news from multiple sites. I've simply changed the mix over the years depending less on newspapers and news magazines these days. Never much trusted broadcast media

I think that part of the reason for the decline of trustworthy media outlets is that every reportable newsworthy incident is no longer localized. Social media assumes that everyone and everything is trustworthy and reputable. I think this has the potential to destroy the local fabric of community for a global and social purpose.

I'm not sure I understand you. I follow social media and the blogsphere every day and it seems that there is a singular lack of trust.

Exactly. Trust is held constant, or assumed away or suppressed. Interaction occurs on the surface only. This enables social media potentially to take a localized event and broadcast it across the world, or wherever. Trust and confidence produce the context behind localized events. Without context the result is reaction or effect. If social media can daisy chain a series of effects they can manipulate outcomes for their own contrived purposes. I cannot say that this accounts for the division discussed by Judith Miller.
