I think if people realized they had to pay to renounce their citizenship they might be less inclined to say such thoughts aloud in case someone tells them to put their money where their mouth is.

Anyone who swears allegiance to another country or serves in their military is renouncing their citizenship. Anyone who swears allegiance to the Confederacy is renouncing their citizenship
