The Somali community by and large has been a real asset to the community. They are industrious, hard working, and are making the areas they live in better than they once were.
I just took my dad out for dinner at a Tapas restaurant just north of downtown Minneapolis. Go there a few years ago, and it was a blighted dump with more places closed than open. Now it is a vibrant and multi-cultural community. And the chow was great.
The Somali community does have bad apples in it and the FBI field office is very busy - usually investigating money being sent back to the old country.
I for one have nothing but good things to say about the Somalis in my neighborhood.

That is interesting PO1 William "Chip" Nagel. I for one am glad that
Suud Olat who is a Somali immigrant loves his adopted state of Minnesota. I am glad that he standing up for peace and that he stated “Eventually, we may reach the goal that people see us as other, fellow Americans. But not a threat or someone who wants to kill you or hurt you."
It is a stark reminder that we should be ever vigilant about threats and also how we can help those in need as the "FBI is investigating a stabbing spree at a mall, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, as a "potential act of terrorism."
Over the past few days I have been summarizing the Dakota Sioux uprising of 1862 which ravaged Minnesota during the US Civil war.
