I knew about the 11 year sunspot activity cycle but was not aware of this Ubber one. The Good thing when this one happened the only communications available was the Telegraph which is a pretty hardy system. These days it would be very problematic depending on how much of the Atmosphere was affected.

Could be very devastating to say the least. Many people would not know how to function if something like this was to happen.

SGT John " Mac " McConnell - That is what I'm thinking. Same effect as EMP. Reek Havoc on Satellites, IC Chips and I don't know that there is that much old timey Tube Equipment around but I know I would be very Popular being I learned with some Ancient Tools.

Very true PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Even the new vehicles today would not work. I have an old school 1973 suburban 4x4 ready if it does happen. One never knows what might transpire. At least I know how to work on it. Parts are easy to come by.

You know how telecom companies like to blame sunpots? Yeah, imagine EVERY telecom and cable company doing this, just for starters......

When I was a CATV tech back in the early to mid 80's. Every March and October sunspots would wash out the earth stations 10 meter satellite dish for a few minutes. Happened every year.. Technology is much better now..
