That is interesting that congress members are discussing backdating the authorization for the Combat Action Badge SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL to WWII when they have not taken action to backdate the credit for mobilization towards retirement for mobilized reserve force members from January 31, 2008 to 9/11/2001.

I don't see a problem but how are they going to prove they were engaged by the enemy?

Prob’ly from a shell that didn’t get extracted?...(one that could only come from a weapon the enemy used)...

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL It sounds like a nice idea when you consider that there are no longer clear lines of battle. But am not sure how this would work retroactive.
Like those us directly supporting UNSOM were traveling the dangerous streets of Mogadishu back in 1993, receiving incoming weapons fire, mortars, and flying projectiles or our compound having rebels constantly attempting to breaching the 4 foot high concertina wire.

The Navy changed the Combat Action Instruction and troops that provided support for that mission received CARS's. I will say this the ones that received were the troops that went in after the Black Hawk went down and helped pull that task force out. I know of two Navy Troops that had it approved and back dated but they were still in the Navy at the time.
