Where I live in northern Virginia d the neighboring counties in West Virginia Heroin has been a problem for a long time SSgt (Join to see). A few months ago some group started distributing heroin mixed with a poison which killed 79 within the first month or so.
In May, I shared that US Navy veteran Brent Combs rented the downstairs of my son who lived near Martinsburg WV. He was apparently killed elsewhere based on time of death and his body was dumped in his bed. What could be stolen was and because their was single puncture mark in his forearm the overworked police considered it a drug overdose. They have been dealing with 3 drug deaths per day for a long time in that small community. The rehab program at Martinsburg, WV VAMC where Brent Combs works seems to have many drug users who are still active.
When I was young in the 1970s people I grew up with died of heroin and a couple girls were executed by a motorcycled gang hit team because the girls were infringing on their turf.
Two of my sons went to a wedding two weekends ago where the best man had died of a heroin overdoes in May. That young man named Scott used to come to our house in the early part of this century to hang out with some of my sons who were teenagers at that time. At the wedding, an empty chair was placed with Scott's picture on it - he was brother of the bride.
Heroin use and distribution/pushing has been a problem for a long time in this nation.
I pray that God will have mercy on us and that this nation will move from an us versus them to considering that we are all a part of us.

Capt Seid Waddell - I concur with the bad choices issues including who they hang around. Two of those who died were described as giving their shirt to anybody in need. Homicide is most likely the case in the death of Brent Combs. Hopefully those two veterans will be caught eventually and confess when they are charged with other crimes.

The still photo is enough for me. Drugs are absolutely poison. Drugs destroys lives, dreams, families, and societies.

The key is to never start; by the time they reach that point they are hopeless.
