He has interesting perspectives. He was right about government jobs exceeded manufacturing jobs. He said it will lead to bad things.

If you never traveled south of the border, you might not know what Perot was talking about. If you traveled there to visit a tourist mecca, you still might not know. No, you have to get off the beaten track to understand his point. You have to visit Tijuana, that's just on the other side of the border from San Diego. Go past the tourist traps. Or sail into the harbor at Ensenada, not on a tourist ship where you're protected from the sights and smells and deposited in tourist buses that only take you to the best places, the enclaves set aside to coax you out of a dollar or two. It's a different world where basic survival comes cheap. Don't go alone and don't go at night. Life also is cheap. I remember sailing with a boat load of teenagers into Ensenada. As we motored to the moorings one young boy simply stared at the water and I heard him mutter, "If I fall in, don't save me." A young Mexican lad in a skiff with an outboard motor guided us to a buoy with a rope hanging in the water. He handed it up for us to slip over a cleat. None of the kids would touch it. Yes, the water really was that foul. Mexico would love to replicate America's wealth and it will do anything to attract business. Environment be damned. People be damned. Just keep the bribes flowing and you too can have cheap labor and little if any regulation. Meanwhile, what little they can profit in America is taxed to pay for bureaucracies that sap the lifeblood of America like leaches. Yes, Perot was right. When NAFTA was passed, there was a giant sucking sound and the bureaucrats and politicians in the District of Calamity have been hiding the results behind altered unemployment data.

SP5 Christine Conley - The unions have invested themselves in the Democratic Party and just like the Black and Jewish communities they're received nothing in return. All three vote so regularly for the Democrats as blocs that the Democrats have no need to do anything in return. It's a really bad bargain.

SP5 Christine Conley - I've actually had some success with union members while working as management. I discovered that my problems were that I was attempting to deal with a union wherein members weren't participating other than to elect leaders and through responsibility on them to "fix things". So I threw them into a room for a mandatory meeting and we began having some success. Interestingly, it appeared that the union members were no better at participating than We the People are participating in our role as the overseers of our elected representatives.

PO2 Robert Aitchison That's not true. The Florida Supreme Court was basically legislating from the bench, rewriting state laws regarding the election certification process, including arbitrarily changing the deadline for certification as set by Florida statute. They also ruled that Gore could get manual recounts in select counties, ones which he thought would benefit him, and then ruled that the Florida Secretary of State had to include manual recounts from some of the counties.

SCOTUS ruled that it was a violation of equal protection to have recounts done in some counties but not in others, and they rejected the Florida Supreme Court's attempt to change the deadline. In a 7-2 decision, SCOTUS ruled:

"The petition presents the following questions: whether the Florida Supreme Court established new standards for resolving Presidential election contests, thereby violating Art. II, §1, cl. 2, of the United States Constitution and failing to comply with 3 U.S.C. § 5 and whether the use of standardless manual recounts violates the Equal Protection and Due Process Clauses. With respect to the equal protection question, we find a violation of the Equal Protection Clause....

Because it is evident that any recount seeking to meet the December 12 date will be unconstitutional for the reasons we have discussed, we reverse the judgment of the Supreme Court of Florida ordering a recount to proceed."

MCPO Roger Collins I understand that, but I was hoping for something a little more specific. Ideally, if she could narrow down how "they" were, we could have a serious discussion about it.
