Senate votes to scale back federal job preferences for veterans

This is but one article circulating around on this topic. The one that caught my attention was that this is coming from senior DOD staff. The initiated this. I would like to know a couple of thing on this.

1. How high up the chain of command at DOD did this originate?
2. Who sponsored the bill, and who co-sponsored it?
3. If this so importance to DOD, why was it buried in the overall authorization bill?

Over the last 2-3 to many of these bills affecting veterans and SM are buried or introduced in this way. Kept under the radar, passed without debate. We need to be more vigilant and press our elected leaders accountable. I don't understand, veterans are more organized today and yet we don't get involved as much as we should.

I ask that you reach out to your elected officials, your local veteran chapter of whichever group you are a member of and let them know this needs to stop.

Between this and the cutbacks to BAH, it seems clear the Republican leadership of the Senate is not on the side of the Soldiers Seamen and Airmen of the US armed forces!

The federal job preference is enacted already in federal law based upon the VA determined disability rating. If ONE 10 point veteran applicant has filed for consideration, and there is only one position, the applicant file should become closed.
