The same people who bring your coke and heroin will have a new product to sell if restrictive gun control is passed. Stabbings will go up, more crimes against women and the elderly. The criminal is still there. The UK has a huge problem with what they call knife crime.

True but how many knives can you throw at one time
I stole this:
Well, the 2010 stats apparently report 130,000 knife attacks in the UK during that year (an approximation, but all of these stats are). Looking at the Bureau of Justice Statistics Criminal Victimization report for the same year, approximately 337,960 gun attacks (I am presuming that both numbers include rapes/sexual assaults, robberies, and simple assaults, which appears to be the case at first glance). As the population of the UK is listed as approximately 62,641,000 and the USA is 311,591,517, we get approximately .0021 knife attacks per capita in the UK and .0011 knife attacks per capita in the USA. Assuming the veracity of all these numbers, then it would be true to say that there are more knife attacks per capita in the UK than gun attacks in the US.
(One caveat is that I'm not sure the reporting periods are the same. Crime stats reported in the UK are apparently gathered from September to September, while I believe US statistics use the full year. However, since I'm presuming that 12-month periods are used in both cases, it's as close a comparison as we will get.)
However, before we start crowing about this, it bears mentioning that the same is true if you switch the countries. Reported gun offenses for the UK during the last period were 11,227, while knife offenses in the US were 192,230. That corresponds to per capita numbers of .00018 to .00062, respectively. So it appears knife-wielders from one country outpace gun wielders in the other in both cases.
And if we want to take it a step further, murders per capita in the US (12996 total) outpace murders in the UK (638 total), .000042 to .000010, and gun-related murders even more so (8775 vs. 58, .000028 vs. .00000093).

Well a man in China killed 26 people in one attack. The other problem is that if a product is worth $ Drug Cartels will smuggle it in. Thing is they will not be smuggling your grand dads old shot gun. If this attack was in fact done by ISIS an no gun was available, they would have smuggled one in. With out guns, criminals will be empowered to do more strong arm robberies, more home invasions. When guns were restricted in the UK and in the land down under strong arm attacks went way up.

MSgt Michael Bischoff - BTW, a knife wound is far more likely to result in death than a gun shot wound. Cops are trained to shot first and ask questions later if some one charges with a knife. Take an old leaf spring from a truck and a grinder, you know have a sword. Read a book on chemistry 101 and go to the hardware store, you now have a bomb. Attacking the 2A will not stop attacks, it will only change how they are conducted.

MSgt Michael Bischoff - The thing is, the crats not only want to ban your so called military weapons, they want to can your hunting rifle, your fowling piece (shotgun), your target gun for sports, old black powder gun. Then they will want your bow an arrow; then your fishing pole because it is mean to hurt the poor fishes. They don't give a damn about people, it is all about power. Collective socialists want to control your life from the womb to the tomb.

-The Charleston Loophole appears to be a issue at the dealer. Why wasn't a background check done?
-I don't know about the terror watchlist one. Same as no fly list. You had people erroneously on the list. Is it same?
-Hate crime conviction? Just adding another law.
How about laws get enforced that are already on the books instead of adding more laws.

I agree with support of current laws , but a lot of states consider them guide lines.

I've bought weapons in 3 different States. Wasn't a guideline or a option to fill out background check or have one done.

The so-called Charleston loophole is the result of a rule that protects the rights of citizens. The background check s required but we all know the dealer doesn't do the check, they merely phone it in and the FBI does the check. If the check is not completed in three days, the gun sale can go through. Despite this specific circumstance, it's a good rule because it prevents the government from sitting on requested background checks for an undetermined period of time.
I think the terror watch list may be similar to the no-fly list, that is to say, there is no due process to getting put on the list. An overreaching administration could easily export this law as well to deny gun purchases.
Hate crimes are a bad law to begin with. For starters, the protected groups are arbitrarily selected and the application of the law is likewise very arbitrary. Using a bad law to deny a person's individual rights is a bad idea.

Wow. Was not aware of what the Charleston loophole was. All the checks I've ever had done were via computer.
