Wow, an actual story of somebody living the American dream. A lot of anger from Americans who are upset that somebody broke a law in the process: I’m yet to see an American give back the wages they earned for being on time when you know they broke the speed limit to make it to work on several occasions. Should her family have crossed the border; no, but they are here now, and they have something to offer the United States. It may seem fair to say that everyone without papers should have to leave, but fair and just are sometimes different things. Expecting a five-year-old to not follow her parents, and stay in Mexico alone seems ridiculous, and then punishing her 26-year-old self with a 10-year ban prior to reentry seems childish.

Is she here on a visa? DACA? She should be deported if not. Then again, the laws don't matter anymore

The article states she is here on a DACA visa which she has to renew every two years.

Thanks, I worked on DACA cases. Almost all of them showed the illegals were on public assistance. when DACA goes away we will have a nice list of people to deport.

Now she can go and contribute in her own country. She can be the catalyst in her country to make it a better place.

But she won't. The USA is all she's known, and for her, this is "her country".
