Great post. I have helped 5 veterans get their VA disability rating. I would keep a file with all the VA correspondence submitted and received. I would also keep a log detailing who and what you talked about at the VA. Also, since you are not allowed to record your VA comp medical appontments, as soon as you can, sit down and write down everything that happened at the appt. Names and what was done and said. This will help in case you have to dispute the case write up. Lastly, while everyone recommends using a VSO, remember there are good and bad, no one will watch your case better than you!! So educate yourself on the VA Terminology, suspense dates and procedures. Amazon has booklets on VA disability processing that are really good. If you have questions, I highly recommend the Veterans Benefit Network. This board is composed of old vets, VA Insiders, DROs and experienced VA crusaders!!! These guys are a wealth of information and experience and have usually had a case of whatever you are going through. Remember if you need an Independent Medical Officer review of your case, there are those available too!!! So, there are a wealth of available help out there.. You just have to look!!!!

Great information indeed sir! Everyone soon to be getting out or retiring, or soon to be filing a claim should read and heed. The VA can be a tricky system, but if you know what you need, and what to do, you'll throw them a curveball and make it harder for them to try to disprove or deny. Thanks for posting sir!
