Great, all we need, is having idiots making trouble for us. Things are sensitive enough there

I agree. It's so unfortunate though. Incidents involving US military and those affiliated with them are scrutinized here and quickly turned into a political agenda. Even though Okinawan economy does not survive without US presence there. From real estate to restaurants, so many businesses cater to US Military.

That is an interesting description of a purported crime "American working on a U.S. military base in Okinawa was arrested on suspicion of abandoning the body of a woman who disappeared last month" SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL
The fact that Kenneth Shinzato used to be a US Marine complicates the delicate relationship the US military has with the people of Okinawa and by extension the Japanese mainland islands.
From his name I wonder if Kenneth Shinzato is of Japanese decent.
[Update] Thanks to SFC (Join to see) for letting us know that the contractor's last name is actually Gadsen. The Shinzato is his wife's family name.

SFC (Join to see) - Thanks SFC (Join to see) for confirming that Kenneth Shinzato is actually Kenneth Gadsen. I wonder why Army Times posted the wrong name for him. The fact that he married a Japanese woman indicates he may have strong ties to that area.

LTC Stephen F. - True Sir and no problem, but it still leaves and outraged community with flashbacks of the tragedy that occurred in 95'. Although there are more incidents of good than bad, tragedies such as this seem to always overshadow any good.

If we are going to operate bases in foreign lands we need to show a great example of discipline ,and respect the culture and customs of that land ... Onaga should be outraged and if the contractor is found guilty should be prosecuted ...
